Why doesn't this work as of 01Nov2017?
As a long term YAHOO users I'm glad to here this is only a technical issue. I like many have used this functionality for years, this is why I'm a YAHOO lifer! Thanks for having and keeping this functionality availablity for your user base.
UPDATE: It has come to our attention that this service is being used in violation of the Yahoo Terms of Service. As such, the service is being discontinued. For all future markets and equities data research, please refer to finance.yahoo.com. Thank you.
What???? Say it ain't so! This will break all kinds of API's that have been around for almost 20 years!
Nixon, What a blow to everyday users of YAHOO! This functionality was a differentiator of YAHOO and all other Finance Websites! We not only used the download functionality but extensively the quote pages, new articles, etc. Becuase someone violated the Yahoo Terms of Service everyone is being punished? Why have users not been provided with an alternate solution? Are there no options?
Does anyone know if there is a Google interface for the CPAN Finance::Quote module? Or maybe Stockcharts.com? There's gotta be an alternative site for getting delayed quotes during the day.
Wow...this is really terrible news. I've been using this functionality for over 15 years and certainly not violating terms of service. I would request Yahoo and new owners (Verizon) reconsider this decision. I think it would go a long to keeping some of us loyal to Yahoo!
The carnage caused by this WIHTOUT ANY WARNING is very unethical and I can only assume the financial losses incurred through this negligence. I don't think the policy terms could save against the actual act of negligence of doing so without warning. Getting consumers hooked and then going about it this way causing harm.
What terms and conditions have been violated and what can customers do to get stock quotes imported from yahoo into their personal excel spreadsheets? This functionality keeps me with Yahoo. The alternative is to move everything to Google (email, docs, spreadsheet, etc.). Major disappointment
I use this feature to import stock quotes into Excel. I also use the Stock Connector plug-in to Excel which also uses this feature. Are there any alternatives? Thanks.
