Name change on sender

I have already changed my name listed under my yahoo account info years ago, but for some reason my sent emails still show my first & maiden name as sender. I need this corrected!!! People are very confused by receiving email from the wrong last name.

Re: Name change on sender

Change Sending Name or Reply-To Address

The following works with the mail website and the Yahoo mail app. Any other mail program or app stores the information in its own settings.

  • Hover over the far right gear icon in Yahoo Mail and then click "settings" or "more settings".

  • Click "accounts" or "mailboxes" in left column.

  • Click on the primary address.

  • Fill in the name or reply-to fields.

  • The name can be blank and then only the email address will appear.

  • Click "save" at the bottom of the page.

  • There will be a separate setting on a mobile device.

  • If you are using New mail there is a shortcut to get to mailboxes. Hover over the account name at the top of the left column and click the gear that appears.

Note that this will just change the sending name or reply-to. If a correspondent already has an old name or address it will still appear if they send a new email and not a reply. They must change it in their address book and their contact cards. Contact cards are what appear when hovering over a FROM or TO address. Click the 3 dots in the lower left to change it.

Feel free to Reply if my question or answer is not clear. Include @Barkley_Hound in the post.

@shakiroana15

Ok, so it looks like you just need to change the Sending Name on your account. I went ahead and took care of it for you.

Re: Name change on sender

I've made all the changes and still not working. Should I try on my desktop? Could that be the problem?

Re: Name change on sender

@shakiroana15 - The steps provided above should be done on a desktop. Since you didn't state where you tried those changes, we can't confirm if it should have worked or not.

Re: Name change on sender

I tried both: desktop and Android app, but there is no change. The wrong name still appears on destination even if to me everything is modified.

Re: Name change on sender

@shakiroana15 - If the name is set correctly on your side, it could be that your contact card is incorrect in the recipient's account. Are you sending test emails to yourself? Or to someone who can confirm your contact card is correct on their side?

Re: Name change on sender

I'm sending to both, myself and someone else. The same result on both of us.

Re: Name change on sender

One more thing to try:

Change your mailbox to classic mail and then change your sending name, this works for some. Click Settings, then at the very bottom of the pull down 'switch to classic mail'. Then click the dial, settings, accounts, click the email address and put your name in the 'your name' field. Click save. Then you can switch to the new version of Mail again if you want.

Re: Name change on sender

Still no change. It seems that something is hoocked somewhere. I tried everything and the problem persists.
