recover an old account

I lost access to an account last 2012, and due to urgent business matters, I had to create a new one. The mobile number registered to recover said account is a prepaid one, a number which i no longer have. This lost account is linked to my old facebook profile, which I have not been able to access as well since the password reset is also linked to this email account. The registered email for recovery is also one which is no longer active and I have long forgotten the password to as well. Is it still possible to recover this email? I have a vague idea of some of the email addresses stored in this particular account as well as emails I could have last sent then, since some are work related. I can provide this to prove my identity and ownership of the account. Can someone help me?

Re: recover an old account

Hello @mbwer

No, it can not be restored since you were not signed in to it in 12 months.

Reasons Yahoo deactivates or deletes an account

Depending on your account's history, it's possible for it to be removed from Yahoo and inaccessible. You can always sign up for a new Yahoo account, just keep in mind that your old Yahoo ID may not be available for you to use.

To confirm if your account has been deleted, use the Sign-in Helper. If your account doesn't exist anymore, you'll get a notification page saying it has been deactivated or you can't reset your password online.

Actions that may result in an account being deleted

  • You requested that your account be deleted - It's possible to manually delete your account from the Account Deletion page, but only after verifying account ownership by entering your password.
  • Your account was inactive for over 1 year - If you rarely use your account, it may go into an inactive state and then be deleted. You can prevent this by signing in to your account at least once every 12 months.
  • Your account was used in a way that violates our Terms of Service - Every Yahoo has to play by the rules. When any account breaks any of the policies in our Terms of Service, it may be deleted.

You can under some circumstanes recover an account you were signed in to recently, and here is how.

Reactivate a closed Yahoo account

As long as your account wasn't deactivated due to inactivity or for violating our Terms of Service, you just need to sign in to reactivate it. You can reopen it as long as it was closed within approximately:

  • the last 40 days
  • the last 90 days for accounts registered in Australia or New Zealand
  • the last 180 days for accounts registered in Brazil or Taiwan

When was the last time you signed into this account from the Yahoo website?  Yahoo deactivates accounts that haven't been signed into at least once in the last 12 months.  Once the account has been deactivated it's unlikely you can recover it.

The account recovery process for the free Yahoo accounts is completely automated.  That's why it's critical to check your account recovery information up-to-date.  Yahoo determines you are the rightful owner of the account by sending the account key code message to the verified phone number or email address entered on the Account Security page for this account.  If this information is outdated or otherwise unavailable, was entered incorrectly, or was never set up then it's unlikely you will be able to recover this account.

When you try the Sign-in helper and select the options "I don't have access to this phone" or "I don't have access to this email" what other account recovery options are available?

Re: recover an old account

Hi,
Regarding to when was the last time i opened the account, i am not sure to when was the last time but it hasnt been a year because i bought the phone december last year and created the accounts at the same month and i remember using the account again im just not sure when. For the phone number since the phone is stolen, i eliminated that option for me to recover my accounts thats why the only option i have is my yahoomail account which happened to be the synced email address on all my social media accounts. Also, when i signed in to SIGN IN HELPER there are no other options provided to me, the only thing i saw there was an apology statement and said i need to start over again. Its so frustrating because i cant access it and cant resolve this on my own. I lost all the means to recover this account so please help me out if you can reset it manually on your end and notify me if you are able to. Send it to **Username Protected**@yahoomail.com. I would really appreciate your consideration regarding this matter.

Re: recover an old account

Greetings @kerryV02

As you noticed from my previous response the account recovery process is completely automated so there's nothing I can do to help you recover this account.  Your only hope would be contacting a Yahoo specialist about this issue.

1.    Start here at Help for Yahoo Account - https://help.yahoo.com/kb/account
2.    Scroll down the page until you see a "Contact Us" button.  Click on this.
3.    This opens a Yahoo Help Central Support page.
4.    Under "Tell us your Yahoo email address and product." you select the product you want help with.  In this case it would be "Account".
5.    Enter your email address and check "I'm not a robot".  You may be sent to another CAPTCHA page for additional proof.
6.    Click the "Get started" button.
7.    This opens a page that says “Select from these options”.
8.    The option you are looking for is "Contact a Yahoo specialist".  Please note this option is not available for all issues and in all markets.  If you see this option click on it.
9.    This opens the page “What can we help you with”.  Select the topic that most closely matches your issue.
10.    Next is the page “Tell us more about this issue”.  Select the topic that most closely matches what your issue.
11.    Next is the page “Here’s how to get help” which will show you the contact options available such as chat, email a Yahoo specialist, or Ask the Yahoo community.

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you've written, perhaps if you provide more details based on the previous responses that would help?

Re: recover an old account

Hello @razorzenon

If you mean you have not been signed in to your account since 2012, no you can not.  If you do not sign in for 12 months the account is considered abandoned then cleared and cloased and can not be recovered.

If you were recently signed in the sign-in helper might get you in.
