Emails Lost

Dear all,

Is there anyway to contact Yahoo? Call/Email/Chat? I need to contact them to restore 5-6 year old emails which were automatically deleted from my account. Maybe they were lost when they were upgrading to the newer version of email.

Thanks

@user22

If the account was inactive for a longer period time, it most probably became inactive and in a deactivated state. When that happens, the mailbox is cleared and the emails are no longer recoverable.

Happy New Year @user22

Email can only be restored that was deleted within the past 7 days.

There may be free chat or email at the help pages. Go to http://help.yahoo.com and follow the prompts and then click contact in the left column.

Get technical support by phone for Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Sports, and more with Yahoo Account Pro.

Need help with Yahoo Mail or signing into your account, or have a question about Yahoo Sports, Finance, Homepage, or Search? Yahoo Account Pro is a service that connects you to a Yahoo specialist by phone. This is only available in the US.

Yahoo Account Pro specialists are available 24/7 and can help with:
• Yahoo Mail
• Password reset (you can also use Sign-in Helper to reset your password for free)
• Basic support for Yahoo Sports, Finance, Homepage, and Search questions
Visit the Yahoo Account Pro page to purchase this service.
We'll give you a phone number to call us on the order confirmation page. You can also find this phone number in your order confirmation email, and by signing in to My Subscriptions and clicking Manage under Yahoo Account Pro
Yahoo Account Pro is the only paid Yahoo technical support service offered by Yahoo that gives members access to 24/7 live phone support agents. If you see other Yahoo product and password support phone numbers or services posted online, these aren't Yahoo phone numbers or services and you aren't working with Yahoo Customer Care. Always make sure the Yahoo support site you're using has a web address that ends with yahoo.com.
Feel free to reply if my question or answer is not clear. Include @Barkley_Hound in the post.
I do not work for Yahoo and my postings are just my opinion based on experience.

Re: Emails Lost

Emails weren't deleted by me, they were deleted by Yahoo!

I hadn't signed in for a long time and, when I finally did, I did from a different device and may have entered incorrect password on first few attempts. My account was stuck for some time but I recovered it via recovery methods. However, it was like a new account, all the previous messages were gone!!!

I don't have Pro account but I need contact Yahoo support. I followed the link you provided but I wasn't able to contact their support.

This is very poor service from Yahoo - if I was able to provide correct recovery information, my account should have been fully recovered. I understand the security concerns but they aren't relevant when I provided the correct recovery information. I lost data because of Yahoo and there is apparently no way to contact their support. That's one reason why 42% of the US emails addresses examined were Gmail accounts according to a report.

Re: Emails Lost

Thank you, maybe this is what happened.

Yahoo should inform its users on sign up that the account will become inactive after a certain period of inactivity and, when that happens, ALL THE DATA WILL BE LOST fFOREVER!!!.I can't believe that they don't pass such vital information on signing up!

Here's what I found about Yahoo accounts on some other website:

"A Yahoo account is automatically declared inactive and deactivated after a minimum of six months have passed since the last time the account owner logged in. For every year the account has existed, two additional months are added to this time period. For example, if you've had a Yahoo account for two years, you need to log in at least once every ten months to keep it from being deactivated."

Re: Emails Lost

Hello @user22

Yahoo does, just read the help page at  https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN3057.html?impressions=true which states:

Reasons Yahoo deactivates or deletes an account

Depending on your account's history, it's possible for it to be removed from Yahoo and become inaccessible. You can always sign up for a new Yahoo account, just keep in mind that your old Yahoo ID may not be available for you to use. These actions can result in an account being deleted:

Confirm if your account is deleted - Use the Sign-in Helper. If your account doesn't exist anymore, you'll get a prompt indicating that it's been deactivated or that you can't reset your password online.

If an answer helps you please give a kudo.
