Why is Jaylen Samuels a TE when he is playing RB this week?

Playoffs here...and teams are signing him at TE even though being used as an RB. Not Cool.

Re: Why is Jaylen Samuels a TE when he is playing RB this week?

He was originally listed as a TE before season start. Position eligibility is determined by a player’s past participation and info our data provider collects from NFL teams. Our data provider makes the final decision (there’s no set criteria) on position eligibility including when a new position is added. If it’s determined that a player’s primary position has changed, then that player gains eligibility for the new position but won’t lose their original designation.

@Qtredhed

Why is this being brought up now, since he has been a TE all season?

Answer, because in week 14 it has relevance, but that does not change the rules of the game.

@Jpny468269  I keep seeing people say that other sites "fixed" the problem but other sites never had a problem to fix b/c none of them probably had Samuels as anything other than a RB in the first place.  The issue here is that Yahoo had him initially as a TE and then added RB eligibility later.  As stated numerous times, Yahoo does not remove eligibility once a player has it for the current season.  Samuels position won't be rectified until next season.

Re: Why is Jaylen Samuels a TE when he is playing RB this week?

@Jpny468269  This particular problem arose because it seems like they strictly went off the fact that at the draft combine he was listed as a TE and that's what they based his position eligibility off of when they added him to the game. It's similar to Marques Colston's rookie season when they had him initially as a TE and added the WR eligibility later based on NO's actual depth chart.

It does suck. He has only played RB in the NFL, and to my knowledge the designation is primarily because of his combine showing and preseason.

I have Conner, after drafting Bell, and now with him down - might end up facing someone who can use a RB as a TE next week. The owner picked up Samuels at the beginning of the season only because they share the same alma mater...

Can Yahoo get this corrected?  We have a team in or league who's only week postions are QB and TE, but now w Samuels double-position listing they will be able to start 4 RBs w the Flex.  Is there a Yahoo contact that can be pinged to look into this?

Re: Why is Jaylen Samuels a TE when he is playing RB this week?

Hello,

Can you provide information regarding this?

The guy was a FB in college - *Link Removed - See the community guidelines for more information.*

And he was listed as a FB/RB in the combine - *Link Removed - See the community guidelines for more information.* (it makes reference from what I gather that he was "shorter than a TE" and an "H-back")

Those are the only two sources that I can find regarding his position that give somewhat of a decent explanation...

that same problem came up with Ty Montgomery a year or so ago with the Packers.

comes down to the teams designation and NFL draft designation.

Yeah... not a good enough reason.  This needs to be fixed.  ESPN has it correct with only a RB designation.  If you can't get this right, why would I play fantasy football on Yahoo.  Makes absolutely no sense.

Even if you thought it made sense before the season, you clearly know now it doesn't.  In inexusable to "not lose their original designation" - now the Ty Montgomery situation was vastly different because he actually played WR and was converted to RB based on injury.  Jaylen Samuels didn't play TE all year and then get converted, he was the backup RB since Week 1.  Like any "call on the field", the most important thing is that you get it right, and be willing to correct a mistake.

I’m guessing anybody who is complaining does not have him on their team, and if you do have home you are happy.

Re: Why is Jaylen Samuels a TE when he is playing RB this week?

Just because he was listed as a TE in college doesnt give yahoo,/ data provider  the right

to have a TE tag when he is playing as a RB in the Pros,

common sense is lacking @ yahoo every year about these types of situations

makes us not want to continue being here @ times like these

playoffs are starting and for a critical decision to made like this a shame

but not suprising for yahoo standards
