I know my password but i can't acces my account because my phone number not active

For some reason - probably only that I had logged in from different devices, I keep getting the "We have detected unusual activity ..." message when I try to log in to my account. I know my ID and password, but the problem is, none of the three email addresses that I submitted for recovery purposes, are valid anymore (I'm no longer with those ISP's). So, I have all information necessary to log in, but not to verify, unless I can log in and change my verification addresses. I should be able to use my phone number - it has worked fine for two other accounts - but I don't seem to get a chance to enter it to verify the third account - or it only brings up the other two. I'm sure the account is still active, I just can't get to it. It's very frustrating, because there wouldn't be a problem with the login, if it weren't for the outdated verification methods.

If there's something unusual about your sign in or recent activity, you may be asked go through a second verification step, even after entering the correct password. This may happen whether you have two-step verification enabled or not. We do this to protect accounts from unauthorized access.  Read more about this in the following article.

Account verification prompt at sign-in - https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mail-for-desktop/account-verification-prompt-sign-in-sln22500.html

Yahoo customer service phone number - https://help.yahoo.com/kb/account/yahoo-support-number-sln27069.html

Yahoo no longer provides direct support via phone or email address for their free Yahoo accounts.  With over 300 million accounts the account recovery process is now completely automated.  Yahoo determines you are the rightful owner of the account by sending the account key code message to the verified phone number or email address entered on the Account Security page for this account.  If this information is outdated, was entered incorrectly, or was never set up then it's unlikely you will be able to recover this account.

Start by going through the Sign-in helper mentioned in the following article from a laptop or a desktop.

Problems signing in to your Yahoo account -
https://help.yahoo.com/kb/learn-fix-problems-password-yahoo-sln2051.html

When you go through the account recovery process and you see account recovery options that are no longer available you need to choose "I don't have access to this phone" or "I don't have access to this email" to see what other account recovery options are available.  If you get the "Uh oh" message saying the account can't be recovered online you can go through the steps below to see what other account recovery options are available.

Start here at Help for Yahoo Account - https://help.yahoo.com/kb/account
Scroll down the page until you see a "Contact Us" button.
Click on this to open a page that says "Need assistance with a Yahoo product? Let's see how we can help.".
Under "Tell us your Yahoo email address and product." you select the product you want help with.  In this case it would be "Account".
Enter your email address and check "I'm not a robot".  You may be sent to another CAPTCHA page for additional proof.
    Click the "Get started" button
This opens the "CHOOSE SUPPORT OPTION" page.
If you see the option "Contact a Yahoo specialist" then you can get live chat support for this issue.  If the chat line is closed you can submit a support ticket by clicking on "Email a Yahoo specialist".  Please note that live chat support is very limited in both availability and the scope of the issues it can address..

If you have gotten this far and haven't been able to recover your account then I'm sorry but there are no other account recovery options available.

Re: I know my password but i can't acces my account because my verification addresses are outdated.

I don't know why my question suddenly got a slightly changed header - my phone number IS active, not that it helps, as long as the verification addresses are outdated. Anyway, I've been reading some of the questions on the same topic, and I understand now that there is absolutely no support - just running around in circles on the help pages, and serious questions get a "Solved" stamp although nobody has provided any sort of solution. It's clear that a free account service is worth exactly what you pay for it. So, I'm now giving up the account I have all the login information for but can't get into because it wants a verification too - for no reason at all, just because I've logged in from another device once or twice. Moreover, I'm going to delete the two accounts that I actually managed to recover - in spite of Yahoo - and I'll never use Yahoo again, and I'll dissuade anyone who asks if it's any good. Yahoo is aptly named - I take it that it's named for the savages in 'Gulliver's Travels. I'm amazed that it took me nearly 20 years of use to discover how bad Yahoo really is, but when I think back, it wasn't always so. Back when the millennium was young, Yahoo actually worked surprisingly well. That's not the case any more. Time burn one's accounts and move on.

Their account recovery is a joke. They have 300 million accounts because 10 million people can't recover their old accounts and keep having to make new ones. Smiley Wink
