Re: Email verification code

Greetings @debbietrece

If you have the feature "Yahoo Account Key" enabled you can use the next article to recover your account even if you have a new phone and a new phone number.

Fix issues with Yahoo Account Key - https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mail/questions-issues-yahoo-account-key-sln25921.html

Yahoo customer service phone number - https://help.yahoo.com/kb/account/yahoo-support-number-sln27069.html

Yahoo no longer provides direct support via phone or email address for their free Yahoo accounts.  With over 300 million accounts the account recovery process is now completely automated.  That's why it's critical to keep your accout recovery information up-to-date.  Yahoo determines you are the rightful owner of the account by sending the account key code message to the verified phone number or email address entered on the Account Security page for this account.  If this information is outdated, was entered incorrectly, or was never set up then it's unlikely you will be able to recover this account.

Start by going through the Sign-in helper mentioned in the following article from a laptop or a desktop.

Problems signing in to your Yahoo account -
https://help.yahoo.com/kb/learn-fix-problems-password-yahoo-sln2051.html

When you go through the account recovery process and you see account recovery options that are no longer available you need to choose "I don't have access to this phone" or "I don't have access to this email" to see what other account recovery options are available.  If you get the "Uh oh" message saying the account can't be recovered online you can go through the steps below to see what other account recovery options are available.

1.    Start here at Help for Yahoo Account - https://help.yahoo.com/kb/account
2.    Scroll down the page until you see a "Contact Us" button.  Click on this.
3.    This opens a Yahoo Help Central Support page.
4.    Under "Tell us your Yahoo email address and product." you select the product you want help with.  In this case it would be "Account".
5.    Enter your email address and check "I'm not a robot".  You may be sent to another CAPTCHA page for additional proof.
6.    Click the "Get started" button.
7.    This opens a page that says “Select from these options”.
8.    The option you are looking for is "Contact a Yahoo specialist".  Please note this option is not available for all issues and in all markets.  If you see this option click on it.
9.    This opens the page “What can we help you with”.  Select the topic that most closely matches your issue.
10.    Next is the page “Tell us more about this issue”.  Select the topic that most closely matches what your issue.
11.    Next is the page “Here’s how to get help” which will show you the contact options available such as chat, email a Yahoo specialist, or Ask the Yahoo community.

Please note that the option "Contact a Yahoo specialist" is not available for all issues or in all markets.

If you have gotten this far and haven't been able to recover your account then I'm sorry but there are no other account recovery options available.

Re: Email verification code

How can I get Yahoo to send and Account Key via SMS text message to the mobile number associated with my account?  I lost access to my yahoo email when I traded in my phone for a new phone.  I got home and couldn't access my yahoo account anymore.  I went back to the store to get the old phone but it was already gone.

When you go through the steps in my previous response above when you go through the Sign-in helper what happens?

Re: Email verification code

I get to your Step 7.  The screen says  it's on step "2 CHOOSE SUPPORT OPTION".  There isn't any option for "Contact a Yahoo specialist".  The only option available is "See product-related help articles."

Re: Email verification code

Sorry, you were asking about SignIn Helper.  I tried that, but it only gives me the option to send an email.  But it wants to send the email to the account I'm locked out of.  No option to send SMS message.

If you don't see an option to send a text message then that indicates the system doesn't show a phone number associated with the account you are trying to recover.  What happened when you clicked on the option "I don't have access to this email"?

As I mentioned the option for "Contact a Yahoo Specialist" isn't available for all issues or in all markets.  If you don't see then it's not available for the issue you are having.  The only accounts that would see that option all the time are the paid Yahoo Mail Pro accounts.

Re: Email verification code

I get the Uh-Oh message...

"The most common reasons are:
You have no other recovery options on file for your account
You have reached your daily limit for SMS or Email attempts"

Can I pay and upgrade the account to Yahoo Mail Pro and get some help with this?  Are there any other options?  Can I go to a local Yahoo office and show someone an ID to prove who I am?  I'm open to any options available.  This is really impacting me.

Re: Email verification code

Greetings @LB16

You only have a limited number of trying for recovering an account per day and it sounds like you have hit your limit.  You will need to wait 24 hours before you can try again.

Unfortunately you could only upgrade to Yahoo Mail Pro after you had signed into the email inbox of the account you're having the issue with.

You can let Yahoo know that they should offer paid customer support for their free Yahoo accounts by providing feedback.

Feedback on Yahoo Mail - https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mail-for-desktop/sln15846.html

You can certainly try going to the nearest corporate headquarters to see if they can offer some assistance.  The Terms of service document on Yahoo's homepage should tell you were the nearest office is.  When you visit during normal business hours just go up to the person at the front desk and ask them to page someone that can help recover your account.  Be sure to let them know you will have no problem verifying you are the rightful owner of the account in question.

I've never heard of anyone doing this before so if you do please keep me informed on how that works out for you.

I got the Uh-Oh on my first try today.

It sounds like I'm out of other options.  Thanks for your help.
